What network administration does in ThothOS

This is the workspace for businesses whose product is a network. It is aimed squarely at internet service providers and managed service providers, and it exists because those companies otherwise run their billing in one system and their network in another, with the customer record duplicated across both.

What you can do

• Manage IP address space (IPAM) — supernets, subnets, pools and VLANs, with a view of which addresses are actually available rather than which were once assigned.
• Monitor with ICMP and set thresholds, so degradation is noticed rather than reported by a customer.
• Manage devices over SNMP, and keep proxy configuration alongside it.
• Keep a device inventory linked to customers, so a piece of equipment is attached to the account it serves.
• Watch a dashboard of the current state instead of assembling one.

How it fits the rest of the platform

The point of having this inside a business platform is the link between the network record and the commercial one. A device belongs to a customer; that customer has invoices, contracts, a portal login and support tickets in the same system. When a service is suspended or restored, the customer record and the network record are not two places to remember.

Getting started

Create an account at /setup and say during the AI interview that you run a network for customers. The workspace comes with the ISP and MSP shape rather than a generic one.

Good to know

Monitoring and SNMP reach devices you operate, on the network you operate. Address space is yours to model — ThothOS holds and validates the plan, it does not obtain allocations for you.
